I was talking to a friend and she asked me about people wanting free art work. While we understand free work is nice but there is a reason why we have a COMMISSIONS section in our journals. We take commissions for art work, not requests. We have to make a living to you know!
Like me, I'm not working at the moment and what cash I get from commissions goes towards things I need for my artwork, a few living expances and some things that I can't ask my parents for because they shouldn't have to buy things for me anymore.
I see no reason why this should make me sound like a bitch, its just commonsense to me. Why give you free art when I had to charge everyone else?
If you feel the same way please feel free to add this stamp to your journal.
EDIT
This stamp is for people who are trying to make a living with their art work, not for letting people view it. When you have no job and no other way of getting money, you’re not going to do a job for free just because someone requested something.
Don’t care if that makes me sound like a bitch, I really don’t.
Work dosen't happen without trade.. be it art for art.. art for cash.. or art for stuff, lol.
i dunno why, but i feel so dirty when asking or getting money for artwork; mostly because i feel i'm unworthy for such things. 6 _6;;
maybe if i reach to a grandmaster level of davinci, then i might reconsider, otherwise i just can't see the value in paper that's president-green or canvas-oiled.
omg, i'm an idoit, i just realized this ... i do art for the experience and gained knowledge. when it happens to be priced, i find it to be degrading and insulting to an artpiece, so i usually feel alot happier when giving my stuff away to people who enjoy the artwork's results.
Its not the art that is getting paid for, its the instructions for the art. I hardly see how your in a position to judge anyways. Yes I believe that art work should be enjoyed by all for free and it is for whoever sees it, but if I can get money out of it while I don't have a job, yes I'm going to take money for it.
What this stamp was created for was for people who can easily see that the artist dose commissions.. and should know better then to ask for free hand outs. Its no different then a cook wanting money for people to eat at his restaurant. You're not going to get food for free, and if you view it as selling out then you already have a job or another source of income, or maybe you’re just mad you’re not getting free art from people who want to make an honest living?

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
